活用網上資源 英語教學不單調

英語是活學活用的科目，教學也可靈活有趣而不單調。迎合21世紀的教學趨勢，老師不妨多利用網上資源以豐富教學內容，同時提升學生的自學能力。

1. TVNews獎勵計劃

最近開幕的摩天輪可以坐多少人？年輕人是否不應局限於本地發展？多媒體英語學習平台TVNews（tvnews.hkedcity.net）每周更新英語新聞短片及網上專題練習，更設有「TVNews獎勵計劃」，鼓勵學生關心時事、自學英語。本學年計劃第一期將於2015年1月31日結束，請鼓勵學生把握最後機會完成練習。每期首50位參與率最高、成績最優異的學生，可獲50元書券及證書以作嘉許。第二期計劃將於2月3日展開，歡迎鼓勵學生踴躍參加。

2. 英文科講座影片：拼音及非小說類文體教學

教授拼音，有何法門？學生閱讀非小說類文體，有何難點、如何克服？拼音專家Wiley Blevins博士上月主講英語教學講座，為老師講解廿一世紀的拼音教學，及如何利用非小說類文體提升學生語文能力，更即場示範拼音教學遊戲並分享培養學生閱讀習慣的策略。講座影片和簡報已上載於教師電視（www.hkedcity.net/ttv），請即以電腦、智能電話或平板電腦登入觀。

3. 電子書

Dear Principals and Teachers,

Online Resources for More ‘Lively’ English Teaching

English is a practical subject, so how can we bring it to life? We are lucky to be in the 21st century, for there are countless online resources to enrich our teaching, while improving students' motivation to learn by themselves.

1. TVNews Award Scheme

How many people can the recently opened Ferris wheel take? Should youngsters limit themselves to Hong Kong when it comes to future opportunities? Challenge your students using TVNews (tvnews.hkedcity.net), which provides authentic local news clips and weekly online exercises for self-access learning. TVNews Award Scheme aims to encourage students to learn English through news and current affairs. Phase 1 of the Scheme will end on 31 January 2015, so why don’t you encourage your students to grasp the last chance and finish the exercises? Students with best performances will be awarded HK$50 book voucher and certificate. Phase 2 will start on 3 February 2015.

2. ELT Seminar Video: Teaching Phonics & Nonfiction

What are the characteristics of powerful phonics instruction and nonfiction teaching? Phonics specialist Dr Wiley Blevins gladly answered these questions on an ELT Seminar, on which he also demonstrated a game for teaching phonics, and tips for developing real-reading behaviours for students. The seminar videos and the presentation PowerPoint are now available on Teacher TV (www.hkedcity.net/ttv). Watch them now with your PC, tablet or smart phone.

3. eBook

EdBookShelf (www.hkedcity.net/edmall-ebs) provides over 200 free eBooks for download and use including English and phonics eBooks from Native-speaking English Teacher Section, CDI, EDB and other content providers.
