Co-managed by Gleneagles Hospital Hong Kong and HKU Clinical Trials Centre, Gleneagles CTC provides a platform for innovative discovery across the clinical research ecosystem and facilitates various types of clinical research and studies on treatments, procedures, drugs, vaccines, medical devices, and more. As the city's first private hospital operating a clinical trials centre in partnership with the LKS Faculty of Medicine of The University of Hong Kong (HKUMed), Gleneagles aspires to go beyond providing high-quality and personalised care for patients, but also to drive cutting-edge clinical trials to advance treatment and evidence-based care. We look forward to achieving more impactful clinical research outcomes which will in turn bring innovative treatments and new hope to more patients. 港怡醫院臨床試驗中心揭幕 推動醫學研究及醫療成效   由港怡醫院設立的港怡醫院臨床試驗中心近日正式揭幕。中心由港怡醫院夥同香港大學臨床試驗中心合作營運，為臨床研究生態系統提供創新研發平台，將積極推動各類型的臨床試驗及研究，包括治療、手術、藥物、疫苗、醫療設備等方面的項目。 港怡是本港首間夥同香港大學李嘉誠醫學院（港大醫學院）營運臨床試驗中心的私營醫院，除了為病人提供高質素及個人化的醫療服務外，本院亦希望透過推動尖端的臨床試驗項目，提升治療質素和循證的醫療服務。 我們期待臨床試驗中心可協助研究團隊取得更多有效的臨床研究成果，為更多病人帶來新的治療方法和新希望。 Gleneagles' column on Sky Post       Gleneagles' Honorary Consultant in Cardio-thoracic Surgery Dr Sit Ko-yung spoke about Thymoma. Dr Tam Ching-ting, Honorary Consultant in Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Gleneagles Hospital Hong Kong, explained that candida is a fungus closely related to the immune system. A healthy woman's vagina typically contains a small amount of candida, which is kept in check by lactobacilli. However, when immunity is compromised or the number of lactobacilli is affected by antibiotics, candida can overgrow and lead to an infection. Dr Tam emphasised that normal use of public toilets does not significantly increase the risk of candida infection; rather, other bacteria, such as staphylococcus aureus and escherichia coli, are more likely to cause infections in public toilet facilities. Therefore, maintaining good personal hygiene is crucial, especially when using public restrooms. Travellers should pay special attention to personal hygiene to reduce the risk of an infection.
