Keeping an Eye on Students’ Mental Health

Dear Principals, Teachers and Social Workers,

Keeping an Eye on Students’ Mental Health

Young students have become more susceptible to mental illness, which affect not only their health, but also academic performances and life. Hidden emotional issues can be difficult to discover and might cause serious consequences. Schools play an important role for students’ mental health, yet teachers may find it hard to deal with, given that there may not be relevant training provided. How should we counsel these students and communicate with their parents? How to conduct “Mental Health First Aid”?

Hong Kong Education City (HKEdCity) is therefore going to hold a Teachers’ Talk on Adolescent Psychosis and Serious Mood Disorders this Saturday. Registered psychiatrist and clinical psychologist will share their experience and expertise on the disease symptoms, teaching strategies, management and counselling skills.
