Gleneagles collaborates with HKU and SINOVAC on Omicron COVID-19 vaccine clinical trial
Gleneagles joins hands with the University of Hong Kong (HKU) Clinical Trials Centre and SINOVAC to kick off a clinical trial of an Omicron-specific inactivated vaccine for booster use in Hong Kong. The clinical trial aims to assess the safety and immunogenicity of the SINOVAC's Omicron-specific COVID-19 inactivated vaccine used as a booster shot in healthy adults, in anticipation of providing scientific evidence for future immunisation strategy.
As one of the research sites of HKU, Gleneagles is pleased to be part of this clinical trial project and contribute to the continuous research and development of vaccines and immunisation strategies to help enhance health protection for people.

A recent study shows that people who recovered from COVID-19 and aged over 50 are subject to higher risk of getting shingles. Shingles can cause great pain and people may experience long-term nerve pain which can last for several months to years. Shingles may even cause severe complications, such as vision loss, and patients are at higher risk of developing cardiovascular disease and encephalitis, etc.
The most effective prevention against shingles is vaccination. The new generation shingles vaccine can deliver over 90% efficacy at preventing shingles and postherpetic neuralgia (PHN). If you are aged 50 or above, or aged 19 or above with weakened immune systems, you are recommended to get vaccinated as early as possible!
