We are pleased to invite you to a Masterclass on "Forget the BRICs, here comes MENASEA", led by Prof. Cedomir Nestorovic, Professor of International Marketing and Geopolitics at ESSEC Business School and Director of the ESSEC & Mannheim Executive MBA Asia-Pacific. Structured like a typical ESSEC & Mannheim Executive MBA Asia-Pacific lecture, the Masterclass will be an opportunity to not only learn about the program but also to better understand the current geopolitical and economic developments globally. Abstract: The BRICs put together a group of some of the biggest countries in the world in the hope to challenge the economic domination of US and EU. It is a heterogeneous group of countries with conflicting interests and over the years, failed to post sustainable economic performance of significance. Meanwhile, two discrete geographic regions namely, MENA (Middle East North Africa) and SEA (South East Asia) are capturing attention based on similar issues relating to the price of oil and the importance of China. Hence, the new term MENASEA emerges as institutions like the US Fed and the Islamic Development Bank began to refer to it. This Masterclass aims to examine these two regions - MENA and SEA, to see if their commonalities are actually larger than their differences. If so, will the relationship between these two regions develop into something more than that of a simple exchange of goods and services, and how will the other Asian countries such as China, Japan and South Korea will react to the emergence of MENASEA. The Masterclass will also include a presentation on the ESSEC & Mannheim Executive MBA Asia-Pacific program.
